The State Scientific Institution ‘Institute for the Modernisation of Education Content’ informs about the launch of the Ivan Franko International Prize in 2025 among higher education institutions. The prize aims to stimulate research in Ukrainian humanities and promote its integration into world politics.
The Prize is organised by the Ivan Franko International Foundation with the support of the State Scientific Institution ‘Institute for Modernisation of Education Content’, partners and NGOs.
The Prize is awarded annually for research papers that are significant scientific discoveries and achievements in the field of Ukrainian studies.
Research papers are accepted from academic institutions, higher education institutions of Ukraine and countries with which Ukraine has diplomatic relations, as well as from the winners of the Prize of previous years.
The scientific works submitted for the Prize are subject to a three-level selection process as follows:
1) the nomination committees analyse whether the book submitted for the Prize is a scientific work;
2) the expert council determines the three best scientific works by means of online rating assessment;
3) the jury, consisting of 12 doctors of sciences, selects the winner of the Prize at a live meeting.

The Prize (monetary reward and gold medal) is awarded annually on 27 August – Ivan Franko’s birthday.
In addition, based on the results of the Prize and in order to encourage Ukrainian scholars to participate in the competition, it is envisaged to issue certificates of advanced training with the number of hours / ECTS:
1) to scientists whose works were submitted for the Prize, as such submission indicates the level of scientific research and high qualification of the author(s) of the scientific work (15 hours / 0.5 ECTS);
2) scientists whose works are recommended by the International Expert Council for consideration by the jury, as this is a sign of the international level of research (30 credits / 1 ECTS);
3) scholars who have been awarded the Ivan Franko International Prize, which indicates the quality of the research, compliance with all academic requirements in writing a research paper and recognition of the contribution of the research to the development of Ukrainian humanities (60 hours / 2 ECTS);
4) scholars who have participated in the work of the International Expert Council and the Jury of the Prize, as their involvement in the selection of scientific works that apply for the Ivan Franko International Prize is a practical experience of international cooperation and research and analytical work (30 hours / 1 ECTS).
