The network of Technology and Innovation Support Centres (TISCs) is an international project of the World Intellectual Property Organization, which has been implemented in Ukraine since 2018 on the basis of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) on the establishment of Technology and Innovation Support Centres in Ukraine dated 26.07.2018.

In June 2019, NTU “KhPI” became the first technical university in Ukraine to open an Innovation Support Centre. The purpose of the Centre is to provide consultations to inventors, start-up groups, and scientists on patenting, access to patent databases, and verification of developments for uniqueness. The Centre was established by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine in cooperation with the World Intellectual Property Organisation.

The TISC competence list covers all possible issues of acquisition, use and protection of intellectual property, as well as related issues that applicants need to address. TISC’s educational work is aimed at raising awareness of the ways to protect intellectual property, fostering a legal culture of IPR consumption among the population and deepening communication with stakeholders of the innovation and creative environment of Ukraine. The national TISC network is aimed at forming an effective system of intellectual property rights enforcement by innovation entities and intensifying cooperation of Technology and Innovation Support Centres of different countries within the international TISC network. TISCs provide services aimed at developing the innovative potential inherent in the scientific, industrial and business spheres.
